When a client approached me for support with press conference preparation, the goal was clear: to help a team of four speakers successfully introduce a new online TV channel to journalists.
The team had been formed only a month earlier. Some members were completely new, while others had known each other before. It would be their very first press conference – and they were all quietly asking themselves the same question:
“What am I actually going to say?”

Preparing a team for their first press conference is not only about presentations. It is about aligning messages, building confidence, and helping speakers understand what journalists really expect to hear.
How to Prepare a Team for a Press Conference
We had about two months to prepare, during which we held several meetings. The most important one was the first – our goal was to unite the team and set a shared vision of “what WE want to tell the audience.” This replaced the original four individual approaches focused on “what I am going to say.”
During the initial meeting, I asked questions that might have seemed a bit unexpected at first. Yet they helped the clients gain perspective and see the whole event through the eyes of the journalists who would be sitting in the audience. A brainstorming session followed, bringing a number of interesting ideas to the surface.
From Rehearsal to Confident Media Presence
At the following meetings, we divided roles and topics that each team member would cover during the press conference. We prepared the presentation, and directly at the venue I supported each speaker in their final preparation. We fine-tuned the wording, practiced voice projection and worked on body language. Then we held a full dress rehearsal with all speakers, including practicing how to hand over the floor smoothly.

Before the event, the team felt confident. It was clear that each person understood their role and the value they would bring to the audience.
